O’Neil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong SC recently added attorney Timothy Caprez as part of the law firm’s expansion of its litigation and corporate law practices. Caprez brings to OCHD significant experience in counseling and representing clients with respect to compliance and dispute resolution efforts in heavily-regulated industries and occupations, with a particular emphasis in complex healthcare and labor and employment issues.

He received his J.D. in 2003 from Loyola Univeristy of Chicago.

Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. announced the addition of two new shareholders to the law firm: Brian G. Carroll and John M. Murphy.

Carroll, a shareholder in the Business Law and Health Care Practices, comes to Reinhart after more than 25 years of practicing law in Waukesha County. He received his law degree from Marquette University.

Murphy, a shareholder in Reinhart’s Real Estate Practice, joins the firm from Sidley Austin LLP in Chicago. Murphy received his law degree from the University of Chicago.

Timothy A. Nettesheim, managing shareholder of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c.’s Waukesha office, has been elected to the Waukesha County Action Network (WCAN) Board of Directors.

Nettesheim, a member of Reinhart’s Business Law, Tax and Trusts and Estates Practices, serves as a trusted advisor to closely held business clients whom he guides through every stage of the business life cycle.

He earned his J.D. from the University of Pacific-McGeorge School of Law.

The firm also announced that Jennifer R. D’Amato has been elected to serve her first term on the firm’s Board. Jerome M. Janzer and Mark A. Cameli were re-elected to their Board positions. All three will begin a three-year term starting July 1, 2009.

D’Amato is a shareholder in the firm’s Trusts and Estates Practice and a member of the firm’s Tax-Exempt Organizations team. She earned her Masters of Law with highest honors from DePaul University (Taxation) and earned her J.D. with honors from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Janzer, in addition to his role as chairman, president and CEO, is also co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate Practice and a member of the Business Law Practice. He attended Marquette University Law School from where he earned his J.D., cum laude.

Cameli chairs Reinhart’s Diversity Committee and is a shareholder in the firm’s Litigation Practice, where he co-chairs the White Collar Litigation and Corporate Compliance team. He received his J.D. from Marquette University Law School.

von Briesen & Roper, s.c. announced that Mark F. Foley, formerly a senior litigation partner in the Milwaukee office of Foley & Lardner LLP, has joined the firm as a Shareholder. Foley will continue to focus his practice on commercial and business litigation. He earned a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 1981.

Gregory M. Wesley, Equity Partner and Employment Group Co-Chair of Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan LLP in Milwaukee, was elected to serve a three-year term to the Board of Directors of the United Way of Greater Milwaukee.

Daniel P. Gustafson, a partner with Stafford Rosenbaum LLP, was recently elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Energy & Telecommunications Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin.

Gustafson focuses his practice on energy, utility, and environmental law. He has also written and lectured on a variety of environmental topics for clients and professional groups.

The law firm of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek SC announced that Barbara Zabawa has been elected Chair of the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Health Law Section Board.

Zabawa is an attorney in the Madison office of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., where she practices health law, business and intellectual property litigation. She earned her J.D. in 2001 from the University of Wisconsin.

The firm also announced the election of three new shareholders. Ted J. Barthel and Francis H. LoCoco achieved shareholder status in the Milwaukee office and Sverre D. Roang in the Madison office.

Barthel is a registered patent attorney practicing in all aspects of intellectual property law including patent prosecution, licensing and intellectual property litigation. He graduated from DePaul University College of Law.

LoCoco is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice in the areas of product liability and other personal injury defense, although he has tried cases to verdict in other substantive areas of the law. He also spends time advising clients on product safety issues. He graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Roang works with a variety of businesses in all stages of development, from formation, through growth, and the eventual transition or exit for the owners, including mergers, acquisitions, and various other transactions. He is also the leader of WHD’s Emerging & Entrepreneurial Companies Practice Group. He graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin.

Milwaukee Attorney Lew Wasserman will serve “Of Counsel” to Birdsall Law Offices.

A member of the State Bar of Wisconsin since 1980, Wasserman’s early practice focused on civil litigation before shifting to criminal defense in the early 1990s. He earned his J.D. in 1979 from Drake University.

The Cochran Firm announced its merger with The Techmeier Law Firm in Milwaukee. The new Wisconsin office will be led by managing partner Will Techmeier and will be known as The Cochran Firm Wisconsin.

Techmeier has been in private legal practice helping clients and victims with their claims for over 30 years.

With 29 offices located in 19 states, and over $30-billion obtained in verdicts, settlements and judgments, The Cochran Firm has brought together a diverse group of highly experienced and respected men and women into one firm.

Atty. Cristina Hernandez-Malaby is the new president of the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association (EDWBA).  She succeeds Atty. Kathy L. Nusslock as the association’s leader. Hernandez-Malaby has served on the board of directors and has held various positions in the organization including treasurer and committee chair.  She is a partner at Quarles & Brady.

Other members of the 2009-10 EDWBA Executive Committee include President Elect G. Michael Halfenger of Foley & Lardner, Vice President Matthew W. O’Neill of Friebert, Finerty & St. John, Secretary Anthony S. Baish of Godfrey & Kahn, and Treasurer William H. Levit, Jr., also of Godfrey & Kahn.

Ruder Ware recently promoted Jeremy Welch to shareholder. Welch concentrates his practice in business and commercial law, including commercial financing, mergers and acquisitions, creditors’ rights, and general business law.

Welch is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Attorney Dean R. Dietrich was recently honored with a special award of appreciation at the 2009 Volunteer Lawyers Project Awards Reception hosted by Legal Action of Wisconsin. The annual reception honors distinguished pro bono achievement by Wisconsin attorneys.
